Sec. 38-263 of Kentwood City Ordinances regarding loud noise states that:
(a) no person shall permit or allow any loud noise, electrical, mechanical, human or animal in origin, to be emitted from any place occupied or controlled by him so as to unnecessarily disturb, without reasonable cause, the quiet, comfort or repose of any person.
(b) No person shall create any loud noise in such a manner as to unnecessarily disturb, without reasonable cause, the quiet, comfort or repose of any person between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., except as allowed by permit issued by the city.

Please note that in order to provide enough time to process your request, we request a two-week notice. Upon submission, your request will be reviewed by the Chief’s office. You will be contacted if there are any questions. If your request is approved, a permit will be sent to you. You will also be notified if your request has been denied.
If your request for a sound permit is approved, the following statement will be included on the sound permit.
“If we do receive any noise complaints, an officer will be dispatched to your location and you will be asked to lower the volume. Additional calls may require the police to rescind the permit and require the sound amplification to cease.”
