JOB application

The Kentwood Police Department Police Cadet Program has launched many careers in law enforcement for various young, talented men and women throughout Michigan. This unique program provides eligible students from local universities studying in the field of criminal justice the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the Kentwood Police Department.  Cadets observe real world situations with citizens in various states of need or crisis.  This experience allows them to develop their decision making, critical thinking, and communication skills, preparing them for a career in the criminal justice system.  Additionally, cadets ride-along with officers, observing the day-to-day functions of a law enforcement officer.  Each cadet must maintain full-time enrollment status, as well as high academic standards.

The Kentwood Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Cadet.  Police cadets are responsible for assisting citizens at the front desk, assisting the clerical staff with their duties including the answering of telephones and maintaining departmental records, assisting the sworn personnel as requested, and performing general non-sworn duties as directed by supervisors and/or the Chief of Police.  Police Cadets must maintain full time student status and remain in good academic standing as defined by their respective college or university.
