Tree Lighting Ceremony

Kentwood Library, 4950 Breton SE
Join us at a our annual Tree Lighting Ceremony! The event takes place in front of the Kentwood Library starting with the holiday light parade. There will also be reindeer, take-home kid’s crafts, caroling, and of course a visit from Santa! Patty Matters food truck will be on site with food and beverages for purchase. Complimentary coffee and hot chocolate will also be available.

We will be accepting non-perishable food donations for our Little Free Pantry to help us through the winter season.


Student Essay Contest

Essay topic: Why do you love living in Kentwood?
We are holding an essay contest again this year for a chance to be the Grand Marshall in our Holiday Light Parade and help Mayor Kepley light the City of Kentwood's tree. Contest is open to kids ages 5-18 who are Kentwood residents OR students who attend school in Kentwood, Kelloggsville, Forest Hills, or Caledonia school districts. Essays must be 1,000 words or less and submitted online (click the button below) or mailed to the Kentwood Activities Center, 355 48th St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49548. Contest is open November 1-November 25. Winner will be chosen and notified by November 29.

Holiday Light Parade
Whether you are a part of a church group, non-profit agency, business, school group or a family we want you to be involved! Show the community what The Holiday Season means to you, and remember to use lots of lights! The parade route will start at Kentwood Public Works parking lot at 5068 Breton SE.  Parade will exit out the driveway on Breton and travel north and end at Kentwood Justice Center at 4740 Walma SE. Cost is $15 per business, organization, or individual. If you'd like to participate in the parade click on the button below to register or contact Kentwood Parks and Recreation at (616)656-5270.
