Kentwood to Host NN Mobile Solutions Halloween 5K Saturday, Oct. 17
The City of Kentwood will host the NN Mobile Solutions Halloween 5K, a cross-country fun run, at Covenant Park on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Located at 3724 Shaffer Ave. SE, the cross-country route will allow runners to enjoy the beautiful fall scenery and weather. Most of the course will be through grass but there are a couple of small sections where paved paths are used. Participants are advised to prepare for some elevation changes and uneven surfaces throughout the course.
COVID-19 precautionary measures will be in place, including staggered start times between 9 a.m. and noon, required face coverings at packet pick-up and physical distancing.
“This Halloween 5K provides a great opportunity for runners of all levels to make the most of the crisp autumn air and enjoy peak fall colors,” said Spencer McKellar, race organizer. “To go with our Halloween theme, we encourage all participants to put on a costume and their favorite fall mask for the fun run.”
The event will serve as a fundraiser for improvements needed at Covenant Park, the newest addition to Kentwood’s park system. Registration for the 5K is $20 at runsignup.com until Sept. 30, after which the price will increase. Those who sign up before Oct. 2 will receive a t-shirt.
The Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department will continue to monitor public health guidance and state orders, which may necessitate changes to the event. For more details and to sign up, please visit kentwood.us/halloween5k.
