Food Drive for Kentwood’s Little Free Pantry

The City of Kentwood is hosting a food drive through October to restock Kentwood's Little Free Pantry.

Community members interested in donating canned goods or personal care items can bring them to the Kentwood Activities Center, 355 48th St. SE, or Kent District Library – Kentwood (Richard L. Root) Branch, 4950 Breton Ave. SE, during business hours.

The Kentwood Activities Center is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. The library is open 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 9:30-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Suggested donations include:

  • Prepackaged food like rice, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, shelf-stable milk, pasta sauce, soup, macaroni and cheese, tuna and canned fruits and vegetables. Please remember to check expiration dates.
  • Personal care products such as shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, diapers, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Online donations: Community members can also give a financial donation to the Little Free Pantry online or by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 616.656.5270.

Community partners: The City is seeking more community partners willing to host food drives at their organization or business. Please consider becoming a year-round partner so we provide a more sustainable resource for community members in need of food and other essentials. Those interested may contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 616.656.5270 or eRecreation@kentwood.us with any questions.

Kentwood’s Little Free Pantry initiative began in 2017 as a Martin Luther King Jr. Day community service project to fill an immediate and local need. Since then, the City of Kentwood has continued to host food drives to keep the pantry well-stocked. More information is available at kentwood.us/LittleFreePantry
