After much consideration and discussion, the City of Kentwood has made the difficult decision to join other communities in canceling this year’s Fourth of July Celebration due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and restrictions on large group gatherings. However, we are excited to share we are organizing a parade of City vehicles through our community as a way to still honor Independence Day safely. We’re also postponing our fireworks show to the fall. Watch for more details soon!
Kentwood Parks and Recreation is once again teaming up with Hanger Clinic to offer our third annual Limb Loss Awareness 5k! This family friendly event is designed to be a fundraiser for Kentwood Parks and Recreation’s Adaptive Recreation Programs. All profits will be channeled towards improving and offering more programs for people with physical disabilities. This race takes place on the beautiful East West and Paul Henry Trails. All abilities are welcome to participate! We will also be having a kid’s 1 miles fun run! Kids will receive a t-shirt and ribbon. Race will start and end at Bowen Station Park.
CostEarly Bird registration through 2/29:$20, 3/1-7/31: $25, 8/1-8/22: $30, Race day $35 per person. Kid's fun run is $5. Registrations after 8/7 are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
Kentwood Food Truck Festival is back again for another year with over 30 food trucks, a beer tent, and live music throughout the day! The evening will end with fireworks! What's not to love about this event!!
Join us for the fifth annual celebration and fundraiser to further enhance Kentwood’s adaptive recreation programs. Kentwood Parks and Recreation strives to offer sports and recreational programs for all ages and abilities. This year’s gala will highlight our Adaptive Water Ski Program. Kentwood is the only municipality in the state of Michigan to offer this type of program. This program empowers over 100 children and adults throughout Michigan with a variety of physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities. These individuals get to experience freedom and mobility on the water. Funds raised at this year’s gala will go towards growing our adaptive programs and purchasing new equipment.
Join us for the South Kent Community and Senior Expo! Explore the products and services from over 70 businesses within the community. The expo will also feature health screenings, flu shots, door prizes and free lunch! Admission is free and open to the general public. Vendor space is available! Join us on March 18, 2021 for for Nicholas James Thomasma – singer and multi-instrumentalist performing a mix of Americana, folk, country and rock. Combining stories and songs with humor and with for a show that can be enjoyed by all ages. Concerts take place inside the Community Room at the Kentwood Library. Guests are welcomed to bring their own beer or wine to enjoy at the show. Get out of the house and join us at the Kentwood Library for winter evening fun!
